When Winning Becomes Your Why

When I first got into triathlon, my why was simple: I wanted to run as far away from my old life as possible. Over time that evolved. Then it became about winning. Becoming the best in the world. Chasing world titles. The problem is that winning isn’t fully in your control. And if your entire self-worth is tied to winning, what happens when you don’t? In this video I talk about how my relationship with triathlon has changed over the years, lessons I learned after St. George in 2014, almost winning a world title, becoming a father, and why I’ve had to continue evolving my why as my life changes. I still want to be great. But I also want to be present for my family. The challenge is finding a balance between the two. #Triathlon #LionelSanders #Ironman ⸻ Support Lionel’s training setup Get $40 annual credit at The Feed (Lionel’s nutrition, hydration, and supplements): https://thefeed.com/high-performance/...
