EN16 - Portugal de Lado a Lado (2º Dia)

We said goodbye to town of Celorico da Beira. We had about 150km left to ride on the N16 road and we would continue towards the Portugal coast. Our first stop took us to the heights of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Castle in Mangualde. Much of the journey continued through the Viseu/Dão/Lafões subregion, rich in natural landscapes, gastronomy, and history, celebrated, for example, by the statue of Viriato, the Lusitanian hero, of whom Viseu is proud. The rest of the route was often crossed by the spectacular Dão and Vouga ecopaths, which make use of large parts of decommissioned railway lines to chart their course. Also in this last part of the route, we did one of the most beautiful stretches of the N16 road, where the curves along the Vouga River, surrounded by lush vegetation! By late afternoon, we reached the finish line in Angeja, in the municipality of Aveiro. A trip made in two days, but with potential and points of interest for much more! Here’s our suggestion! 👍✌️
