TD Jakes At This Conference | What They're Not Telling You

TD Jakes showed up at John Hannah’s 12 Hour Prayer Conference, and instead of the focus staying on prayer, repentance, Scripture, and seeking God, the moment turned into what looked like another high-pressure money scene. Original video: https://www.youtube.com/live/aAkYH_sr... In this video, we’re talking about how these major church conferences keep becoming stages for celebrity preachers to push offerings, money promises, and spiritualized giving moments. People gather for prayer, worship, and encouragement, but far too often, the attention shifts toward money, seeds, special amounts, and emotional pressure. This is the problem. When a conference is advertised around prayer, people should expect the Word of God, biblical intercession, repentance, humility, and a focus on Christ. But when the microphone gets handed to certain celebrity preachers, suddenly the language starts sounding like prosperity gospel fundraising. “Give right now.” “Sow into this moment.” “This seed is connected to your future.” “Don’t miss what God is doing.” “This is your breakthrough moment.” But where is that in Scripture? TD Jakes has been one of the most influential religious figures in America for decades, and with that influence comes responsibility. When someone with that level of platform uses spiritual language around money, people listen. People respond. People believe that if they do not give, they might miss God. That is dangerous. Biblical giving is supposed to be cheerful, willing, and free from compulsion. It should never be manipulated by hype, fear, celebrity influence, emotional music, or claims that a specific offering is going to unlock a blessing. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 9:7: “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” That means giving should not be forced, pressured, or tied to someone’s miracle. It should not be treated like a transaction with God. This is not about being against prayer conferences. This is not about being against giving. This is not about saying churches should never receive offerings. The issue is when giving is turned into a performance, when money becomes the focus, and when people are made to feel like their breakthrough depends on sowing into a celebrity preacher’s moment. John Hannah’s 12 Hour Prayer Conference should have been about prayer. But moments like this raise serious questions about what many of these conferences have become. Are these gatherings really about seeking God? Or are they becoming platforms for celebrity preachers, prosperity language, emotional manipulation, and big offerings? The modern church has to stop confusing hype with the Holy Spirit. We have to stop treating money moments like altar calls. We have to stop letting famous names walk into conferences and turn the room toward seed language instead of Scripture. Jesus warned about religious leaders who devour people while appearing spiritual. Paul warned about people who view godliness as a means of gain. Peter warned about false teachers who exploit people with false words. These warnings still matter today. So in this video, we are going to examine what happened, why it matters, and why Christians need to test these offering moments biblically instead of being impressed by the name, the crowd, the music, or the emotion. The church does not need more celebrity-driven conferences. The church does not need more prosperity preaching. The church does not need more spiritual fundraising. The church needs prayer, repentance, sound doctrine, and leaders who fear God. TD Jakes at John Hannah’s 12 Hour Prayer Conference is another reminder that Christians must test everything — even when it comes from a famous preacher on a major platform. Let’s talk about it.
