Here's What's Really Happening at These Christian Conferences

These Christian Conferences Are Out of Control… Christian conferences used to be centered around preaching, prayer, worship, repentance, and the Word of God. But now, it feels like many of these events have turned into spiritual entertainment tours, emotional hype sessions, money grabs, and platforms for celebrity preachers to say whatever they want with little accountability. In this video, we’re talking about three recent examples that show how out of control the modern conference culture has become: John Hannah’s 12-hour prayer conference, Keion Henderson’s tour featuring Valerie Moore, and Jamal Bryant’s summer revival with Johnteris/Jonterius Tate. These events are marketed as revival, prayer, breakthrough, and spiritual renewal — but when you actually listen closely, you start hearing the same troubling patterns: emotional manipulation, exaggerated spiritual claims, questionable prophetic language, pressure to perform, and in some cases, seed-faith money tactics that promise people breakthrough, healing, restoration, or increase if they give the right amount. At what point do we stop calling everything “revival” and start asking whether people are actually being pointed to Christ, Scripture, repentance, and sound doctrine? John Hannah’s 12-hour prayer conference raises serious questions about the way prayer is sometimes turned into a performance. Prayer is biblical. Long prayer meetings can be biblical. Seeking God is biblical. But when prayer events become personality-driven spectacles, where the atmosphere, the music, the charisma, and the intensity become the main attraction, we have to ask: is this prayer, or is this spiritual theater? Then we have Keion Henderson’s tour with Valerie Moore. Valerie Moore has already gone viral for intense offering appeals and questionable giving moments, including the type of language that pressures people to sow large amounts of money. When these kinds of voices are placed on platforms under the banner of revival, empowerment, or breakthrough, it should concern every believer who cares about biblical stewardship and protecting the sheep. And then there’s Jamal Bryant’s summer revival with Jonterius Tate. In that service, there were serious issues with prosperity-style promises, seed language, “52-day” turnaround claims, giving tied to breakthrough, and broad declarations over people’s health, marriages, children, finances, and futures. When a preacher tells people that everything falling apart is going to come together in a certain number of days, or that their bank account will never be that low again after they sow, that is not careful preaching — that is dangerous. The problem is not conferences themselves. The problem is what many conferences have become. Too many of these gatherings are filled with celebrity preacher culture, emotionalism, money manipulation, forced praise, prophetic-sounding declarations, and weak handling of Scripture. People are being told to shout, sow, run, clap, dance, and “expect breakthrough,” but are they being taught the Bible? Are they being called to repentance? Are they being pointed to the finished work of Christ? Are they being equipped to discern truth from error? The church does not need more hype. The church needs sound doctrine. The church does not need more celebrity platforms. The church needs faithful pastors. The church does not need more seed schemes. The church needs biblical giving. The church does not need more emotional manipulation. The church needs Christ-centered preaching. In this video, we’re going to examine how these conferences are becoming more about atmosphere than truth, more about personalities than Scripture, and more about money than ministry.
