Jamal Bryant's Church Is Platforming False Teaching—Here's Why That's Dangerous
Jasmin Sculark preached at New Birth Church, the church led by Jamal Bryant, and this was a massive problem. In this video, we’re talking about what happens when major churches continue to platform preachers who bring emotion, theatrics, questionable theology, and unbiblical messaging into the pulpit while calling it ministry. New Birth is one of the most visible churches in America, and when someone is given that stage, it matters. What gets preached there does not stay there. It spreads. It influences people. It shapes how people think about God, Scripture, the church, and truth. Original video: https://www.youtube.com/live/Fa6pY9vR... That is why this sermon needs to be tested. The issue is not whether someone can preach with energy. The issue is not whether someone can move a crowd. The issue is not whether people shouted, cried, clapped, or stood up. The issue is whether the Word of God was rightly handled. A lot of modern sermons are built around personality, emotion, and performance instead of Scripture. The preacher takes a text, says a few religious phrases, works the crowd, and then turns the sermon into a motivational speech, a self-help moment, or a dramatic performance. But biblical preaching is supposed to explain the text, point people to Christ, call people to repentance, and build the church in truth. 2 Timothy 4:2 says: “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” That means preaching is not supposed to be empty hype. It is supposed to include teaching. It is supposed to include correction. It is supposed to include doctrine. It is supposed to be rooted in what God has actually said. When Jasmin Sculark is platformed at New Birth, under Jamal Bryant’s leadership, Christians should ask serious questions: Was the Bible actually explained? Was Christ clearly preached? Was sin addressed biblically? Was repentance called for? Was the congregation taught sound doctrine? Or was this another emotional church performance with very little substance? This matters because churches cannot keep calling everything “anointed” just because it is loud, emotional, and entertaining. The Holy Spirit does not need theatrics to work. Biblical truth does not need gimmicks. A sermon is not powerful just because the room reacted. The church has become far too impressed with delivery while ignoring doctrine. We celebrate who can hoop, who can holler, who can make people shout, who can generate a viral clip, and who can create a moment. But the real question is whether the sermon was faithful to Scripture. And when a church like New Birth keeps platforming these kinds of voices, it shows a larger problem. Many churches are more concerned with celebrity preachers, conference energy, and emotional impact than with biblical accountability. People are being fed excitement instead of truth. They are being stirred up instead of discipled. They are being entertained instead of equipped. That is not helpful to the church. The Bible warns us to test everything. That includes sermons. That includes preachers. That includes conferences. That includes famous pastors. That includes anyone standing behind a pulpit claiming to speak for God. 1 John 4:1 says: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God…” So this video is not about personal attacks. It is about discernment. It is about asking whether what happened at New Birth was biblical, helpful, and faithful to the Word of God. The church does not need more hype. The church does not need more pulpit performances. The church does not need more celebrity-driven preaching. The church needs Christ. The church needs Scripture. The church needs repentance. The church needs sound doctrine. Jasmin Sculark preaching at Jamal Bryant’s New Birth Church is another example of why Christians must stop judging sermons by emotion and start judging them by Scripture. Let’s talk about it.
