The drugs were concealed inside cocoa sacks, with an estimated value exceeding 25 billion CFA francs. This historic seizure quickly exposed what would become a state-level scandal with deep and far-reaching implications. At the center of the case is Ali Traoré, an Ivorian customs officer who had become a well-known figure in Abidjan’s nightlife, recognized for his extravagant lifestyle, his connections within the nightlife scene, and his controversial network. This documentary traces his trajectory—from his entry into the customs administration to his sudden downfall—while examining his alleged role in an international drug trafficking network linking Latin America, West Africa, and Europe. But the case does not end with the arrest of a trafficker. It takes a far more serious turn when the investigation reveals that anti-drug gendarmes themselves are accused of diverting and reselling part of the seized cocaine, turning what was initially presented as a model operation into a symbol of institutional corruption.
