🎬 When an island sets the pace. Last morning in Praslin, with our minds already somewhere between packed bags and the ferry to La Digue. But before leaving, one thought about diving: it is nothing like the effortless glide you see on TV, where divers seem born 10 meters underwater. Beneath the surface, everything is about control. You have to learn how to stay horizontal, move without panic, and remain naturally parallel to the seabed. Then there is the gear: 15 kilos that make you feel like a porter on land, yet underwater somehow become part of the balance. You have to equalize, stay calm, and trust your body. More than a workout, diving is an exercise in patience, focus, and adaptation. But when it finally works, it feels extraordinary. Then the scene changes. We load the bikes onto the ferry and head for La Digue. From the moment we arrive, it is clear that the atmosphere here is different from the rest of the Seychelles: quieter, dreamier, and full of bicycles. On La Digue, the bike is not just transport, it is the natural rhythm of the island. For us, that feels almost heroic, considering what it took to bring ours all the way here: the traffic of Mahé and Praslin, the slalom through cars and bureaucracy, and the surreal feeling of being the only fools in the archipelago who actually paid for permits. And yet, in the end, our wheels made it here too. There is something deeply satisfying about seeing your own stubbornness parked in front of the Indian Ocean. La Digue is the perfect island for anyone who sees traffic as a personal offense. Here, moving from one place to another feels almost therapeutic, as long as you remember to keep left and respect the road signs warning of Aldabra giant tortoise crossings. Yes, really. There are places in the world where you slow down not for a traffic light, but because a tortoise has decided it is time to cross.
