💬 During the day everything feels harmless. It’s in the evening that the rules change. 🎬 EP34 — During the day, the Seychelles feel peaceful: turquoise water, bright light, palm trees moving gently in the breeze, at most a crab peeking out of its hole. Then evening comes. And with it, the hunt. If you think about it, it’s nothing unusual. All animals have their rhythms. Lions move at night. On land, we know it, we understand it. The ocean, instead, is different. It remains something unknown. And its inhabitants even more so — especially for us, two inexperienced travelers who decide to go for a sunset swim at Beau Vallon. There’s also a myth to break: there are many species of sharks, and only some are truly dangerous to humans. And yet, when you see fins coming almost to the shore, everything changes. The tide is rising. And then… you never really know. The water moves incredibly fast. In just a few minutes, the beach shrinks, breaks apart, disappears beneath our feet. With the tide come fish and squid — the prey that attracts predators. There’s no time to observe. There’s no time to film. We get out of the water and start jumping across rocks still dry — but not for long — as the ocean takes over. We reach the road almost running. Shortly after, hitchhiking, we tell what happened to the locals who pick us up. They laugh. For them, it’s normal. For us, a little less. In the Seychelles, the point is not how dangerous the ocean is.
