HOW TO ADD TEXT BOXES To insert a text box into your document, click the TEXT BOX button in the TEXT group on the INSERT tab. This opens a gallery of available text boxes in Word. Simply click the desired preview to insert the corresponding box into your document. You can type text directly into the box. In addition to using the preset text boxes, you can draw new ones: simply click the Text Box button, then click DRAW TEXT BOX, and drag in the document to draw a rectangle of the desired size. To add text, select within the box and type or paste your text. NB: If you have multiple text boxes, you can link them so that the text flows from one box to the other. Click one of the text boxes and then click Create Link in the Text group of the new FORMAT SHAPE contextual tab (which appears on the ribbon after inserting the text box). 📌 WORDART WordArt is a tool that allows you to insert visually striking text into your document. To insert WordArt into a Word document, simply: 1. Click the WordArt button in the Text group on the Insert tab to open the WordArt style gallery. 2. Select the text style you want to use by clicking one of the previews. 3. Replace the text inserted in the document with the desired text. The new FORMAT SHAPE tab will appear in the ribbon, where you can change the text formatting using the buttons in the WordArt Styles group. To change the font type and size, use the buttons in the Font group on the Home tab. NB: You can also turn text already inserted into your document into a WordArt image. (Watch the tutorial to find out how.) 📌 SMARTART SmartArt graphics are useful tools for creating lists, flowcharts, and organization charts in Word. Inserting a SmartArt graphic into your document is very simple: 1. Click the SmartArt button in the Illustrations group on the INSERT tab, then click the desired layout. The right side of the "Choose a SmartArt Graphic" window displays a larger preview of the selected layout, along with a description and some usage tips. 2. Click OK to insert the graphic into a drawing area in your document. You can now begin filling the graphic with text by clicking the [Text] placeholders and starting to type, or by using the Type Text Here pane, which is dedicated to editing text. The layout is extremely flexible and dynamically adapts to your content: adding or deleting entries in the Type Text Here pane corresponds to adding or deleting SmartArt elements on the drawing area. The font size also adjusts to the available space. SmartArt is also such a versatile tool that, once you've inserted text into a SmartArt element, even if you change the layout of the element, Word will keep the text intact and attempt to adapt it to the new layout. To make changes, use the SmartArt Design and Format contextual tabs, which are activated when you select a SmartArt element. Using the buttons on the SmartArt Design tab, you can add shapes to the graphic element, work on the conceptual structure of the text, choose a different layout for the inserted graphic element, and change the colors and style of the selected element. Using the buttons on the Format tab, you can adjust the element's individual shapes, customizing their appearance and size, and even adding three-dimensional effects. 🧰 Eng. Francesca Martorana
