In US Appeals case 86, a boat touched the pin of a finish line to avoid contact with another boat overlapped outside of them. They then did a penalty turn and crossed the finish line a second time. After being exonerated for hitting the mark, they asked to be re-scored based on their first crossing of the finish line.
