In World Sailing case 87, boats were approaching a line to start, with most boats on port tack because of the wind direction relative to the starting line. While other boats on port tack bore off to pass astern of a boat approaching the line on starboard tack, one boat on port tack did not act to keep clear and collided with the starboard boat.
