Valclone 1624T Amp Clone Demo by Leon C

The Valclone 1624T is essentially a clone of my '57 1624T. This early version of the 1624T amp was powered by a pair of cathode-biased 6V6s with a 5Y3 rectifier. I built this amp using very similar components and nearly identical layout as the original amp (which can be seen in the foreground of the video). Note that I am in no way affiliated with the companies that now own the brand names Valco and Supro. The amp has two channels, each with it's own volume knob. There is a shared tone knob and the second channel features the mid-50s version of the wonderful bias-vary tremolo circuit. I'm using three guitars in this demo: two Thorns (my one-off T-Caster and a fantastic R/S, #52 that was made earlier this year). The Tele features standard Fender Telecaster pickups. The R/S features some of Thorn's own pickups. I'm also using a '68 Gibson Les Paul Custom. All guitars are plugged straight into the amp. No pedals were used. The amp output is going through a separately mic'ed wet-rig (over on the right side of the stereo field); the dry amp signal is on the left side of the stereo, so pan over to the left if you want to hear just the amp. The cab is made of 3/4" pine with Baltic birch baffles. It's slightly larger than the original so that it can house a wider variety of speakers. For this demo, I have an Eminence Screamin Eagle in there.
