My parents' house is a 5-bedroom house in the countryside. It's filled with over 30 years' worth of belongings. When I heard they were moving to an apartment, I went to help them clean out. My mother's philosophy is always to "avoid throwing away as much as possible." We donated as much of the items the family deemed unnecessary. We packed up boxes of items that were in good condition and needed. We sent them to the familiar World Gift. I think we sent about 20 boxes in total. They also packed up another box of things that I wanted and thought I could use.
