Maggie the German Wirehaired Pointer is making great progress during Week 2 of her Board & Train program at Best Paw Forward Dog Training! In today's training video, Maggie worked on her place command while practicing around one of the biggest real-world distractions for many dogs—the door. Whether it's family members coming and going, deliveries arriving, or guests entering the home, learning to remain calmly on place while the door opens and closes is an important life skill. This exercise helps build impulse control, patience, and reliability while teaching Maggie to remain focused on her handler even when exciting distractions are present. Place training is one of the most valuable tools for creating a calm, well-mannered dog both at home and in public settings.
