Famous Sculptor Carl Andre stood accused of pushing his wife, artist Ana Mendieta, out the window of their 34th floor apartment in New York City. He didn’t say much in his defense, and in fact, everything he did say only made him look guilty. So what really happened in the early morning hours of September 8, 1985? It’s a question asked through three grand jury indictments and one trial, where Carl was ultimately acquitted of second degree murder in the death of his wife. Today is Part 2 of my videos on the death of Ana Mendieta and it focuses on the circumstances of Ana’s death, the investigation, the trial of Carl Andre, and the aftermath. In the end, was this a tragic accident, or did Carl get away with murder? I hope you enjoy the video and this story captures your interest as much as it did mine.
