Juan Luna: The Artist Who Got Away With Murder | The Deaths of Paz Pardo & Juliana Gorricho

Hello, everyone! I’m very excited to finally bring you another “weird art video!” It’s been a while. Today’s video is about a cursed painting . . . . . . or is it? The painting in question is titled “Mi Novia,” or simply “Portrait of a Lady.” It was painted by revered Philippine master painter Juan Luna. So this should be a simple story of a talented painter who painted a portrait of his beloved wife, Paz Pardo de Tavera, right? Well, no. The first problem is that the woman in the portrait isn’t Paz. The second is that Juan was a terribly jealous and violent man who murdered his wife and her mother after he suspected his wife of having an affair. And the third problem: Is Mi Novia cursed, or is all that just an unfortunate coincidence? I will answer all these questions in this video and tell you the story of a man whose immense talent may have helped him get away with murder. Enjoy!
