SOLITUDE (Unplugged)— Dark landscapes. Acoustic Folk/Blues (Poetry Set to Music)
SOLITUDE (Unplugged)— Dark landscapes. Acoustic Folk/Blues (Poetry Set to Music) This is a slightly more acoustic and "unplugged" version of an earlier video of the same name. This track features a soulful singer-songwriter vibe, haunting female vocals, and heavy acoustic folk/blues instrumentation. THE LYRICS Solitude breeds. A cold detachment. A wall of glass. A quiet fracture. The world recedes. The dark surrounding. A heavy veil. A bleak compounding. Endless vistas. Desolation. Numbed and frozen. Isolation. Heart is wracked. Desperation. Mind is shocked. Still cessation. (Chorus) Are these dark landscapes mine? Or deeper roots of man? Do I draw them from the void, Or where the shadows ran? Masked by the external light... Waiting for me in the night. Do the visions haunt? (Do they haunt?) Do they lurk? (Do they lurk?) Do the others see Only to weep? Wastes of grey. Barren plains. Do they share These heavy chains? Or is mindlessness Their protection? A final shield Against reflection? Do they smother Every ghost? While I wander As their host? (Chorus) Are these dark landscapes mine? Or deeper roots of man? Do I draw them from the void, Or where the shadows ran? Masked by the external light... Waiting for me in the night. They come at night. (They come at night) When I’m alone. (When I’m alone) Dislocated. Far from home. The visions wake. As reality dies. No reflection In their eyes. It ebbs and flows. Deep inside. Visions grow. Nowhere to hide. An ancient chart. Of an unknown realm. Stranger forces At the helm. (Bridge) Am I mad? Is that the key? Sanity's a grey thing, flowing endlessly. We weigh our thoughts upon its scale, While the artificial rules of man prevail. They will judge. (They will judge) They will condemn. (They will condemn) When I slide. When I fade. Past the mark. Past the line. Out of step. Out of time. But by then, I will not care. Given to my visions Dwelling there. Their shallow world Will cease to be. And I will, At last, Be free. THE STORY BEHIND THE WORDS I wrote a lot of my poetry nearly 40 years ago, during my 20s. At the time I was completely unaware of the reason why I felt the way I did. It wasn’t until September 2024, at the age of 64, that I was finally diagnosed with Asperger's/Autism. Looking back, the poetry was my undiagnosed mind trying to process the intense isolation, the sensory weight, and the profound feeling of WTF! Decades later, I have finally brought these words to life. This is what it felt like to navigate a world that made no sense to me long before I had the words to explain why. HOW THIS TRACK WAS MADE The Writing: All of the poetry and lyrics are my own. I created the lyrics for this song mostly by deconstructing my original poetry. The Music: Suno.com was used for the vocals and music. I've tried to play most instruments over the years with zero success. Plus, I'm tone-deaf and wouldn't subject my worst enemy to my singing! The Visuals: Vizzy.io was used for the video visualisation. I didn't want flashy graphics, just something simple to keep the focus on the mood. I hope it works. LETS CONNECT Thank you for listening. If this creative expression resonates with your own journey of self-discovery, late adult autism diagnosis, or neurodivergence, please leave a comment—I'd love to hear your story. Any suggestions you might have for how I might improve the channel or the visuals are always welcome.
