Audierea lui Ion Bîtcă, candidat la funcția de judecător al Curții Supreme de Justiție

Lawyer Ion Bîtcă is running for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and is being evaluated by the Judges Evaluation Commission under Law no. 65/2023. The Commission invited him to a hearing, in the context of the evaluation process. The hearing was held with the participation of all nine members of the Commission and mainly focused on issues related to financial integrity. Donations received from family members, income declared by the candidate’s wife as obtained abroad, as well as certain potential patrimonial discrepancies identified for the years 2014–2016, 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024 were discussed. At the same time, the Commission requested clarifications regarding the circumstances in which certain assets were acquired, which the candidate qualified as donations. At the request of the candidate, part of the hearing was held in closed session. A member of his family was also heard in a closed session.
