I'm Alexandra Revontulet and this is my project Alexandrite. We create Symphonic Metal covers and release them in sets. Each set has four songs outlining the same theme. It's time to confess. I only watched the Vikings TV series after hearing this song. I had started watching it before, but I hadn't been able to go farther than the first couple of episodes because it was too violent for my taste. But I just had to know what this song represented in the show! So I braced myself and watched it till the end. Even though this song appears in the Vikings a few times, there's always only one verse (by the way, it's loosely based on a fragment from "Egil's Saga"!), and the famous version by Perły i Łotry repeats that same lyrics. Apparently, mothers of all times and peoples need to repeat something at least four times to their children😅😅😅 So I decided to write my own lyrics for this cover. This extended version is inspired by the TV series and influenced by Leaves' Eyes albums "Vinland Saga" and "Njord". To be honest, it was quite a challenge to write something that fits the original song's rhythm and flow, but I think that the final result reflects the Viking mindset (or at least what we now believe it to be) and retains an appropriate atmosphere. Hopefully, the visuals also help in this regard. I designed these outfits based on historical sewing patterns myself. Many thanks to my mom for helping me sew these medieval-style costumes!🖤 My mother told me Someday I would buy Galleys with good oars Sail to distant shores Stand up on the prow Noble barque I steer Steady course to the haven Hew many foe-men Hew many foe-men My mother told me: "Sail beyond the mists Fare through storm and gale You shall never fail!" "Destiny awaits Hold your weapon high Never be afraid When you face your fate Oh, when you face your fate" My mother told me Odin holds his feast (feast) With the chosen slain There I'll drink my ale Stand up in the field My heart's made of steel (Soon) Valkyries will come To summon me home To summon me home My mother told me Someday I would buy (buy) Galleys with good oars Sail to distant shores Stand up on the prow Noble barque I steer (Steady) Steady course to the haven Hew many foe-men Hew many foe-men Like, share, and subscribe! #acapella #mymothertoldme #vikingseashanty #symphonicrock #symphonicmetal #femalefrontedband https://www.alexandritevoice.com/ Facebook   / alexandritevoice   VKontakte https://vk.com/alexandritevoice Instagram   / alexandritevoice   #gothicmetal #alexandrite #alexandritevoice #rainheartsymphony
