Traditional Decision-Making in Evaluation: Sofia CHEPKOECH, Kiptunga Village

Sofia CHEPKOECH, born in Kiptunga, Mariashoni, Nakuru District in 1992, describes the role of elders in her community as central to conflict resolution, environmental conservation, and community guidance. Elders address disputes, involving women in the process, and focus on reconciliation rather than separation. They also promote positive behaviour and adherence to cultural norms. The community evaluates projects based on the trustworthiness of the leaders introducing them, ensuring the projects benefit the community. However, a lack of representation in higher levels of government hinders development, as leaders tend to prioritise their own communities, leading to issues like poor road conditions.
