YACYRETÁ IMPULSA LA ACTUALIZACIÓN DEL PROYECTO DE LA AVENIDA CIRCUNVALACIÓN DE ENCARNACIÓN

The Yacyretá Binational Entity (EBY) has begun the process of updating the detailed design for the future Encarnación Ring Road, a strategic project aimed at optimizing heavy vehicle traffic, decongesting the city center, and strengthening regional connectivity. The manager of the Yacyretá Completion Plan, engineer Susana Giménez, explained that the original project was developed in 2012 and, due to the time that has passed, it is necessary to review and adapt all its components before moving forward with its execution. “We are issuing a call for bids to update the detailed design and define what modifications are necessary, both in the route and in the structural design, access points, and complementary works,” she stated. The engineer indicated that this review will allow for the incorporation of current technical standards and adapt the project to the current traffic conditions and urban growth of Encarnación. She detailed that the design includes a route of more than 20 kilometers. The avenue will begin near the San Roque González de Santa Cruz International Bridge and connect with Route PY01, passing over Route PY06 via a grade-separated interchange with separate lanes for light vehicles and heavy trucks. Giménez noted that the estimated investment in the original project was approximately US$68 million, although he clarified that the amount will need to be recalculated once the technical update is completed. Finally, he emphasized that the Circunvalación Avenue is a fundamental project not only for Encarnación, but for the entire department and region, as it will allow large trucks to bypass the city, improving road safety, reducing traffic congestion, and strengthening international trade logistics.
