ESCLARECEN SUPUESTO ROBO A TRANSPORTADORA: DETENIDOS CONFESARON QUE EL ASALTO FUE SIMULADO

Agents from the Itapúa Investigations Department solved the alleged aggravated robbery reported by the occupants of a Multienvíos company truck in just a few hours, after discovering that the incident had been staged by the individuals involved. The commissioner in charge of the investigation explained that the report stated that the driver and his passenger were intercepted in the early hours of Thursday on Route PY06, at kilometer 80, in the district of Pirapó, by the occupants of two Toyota cars. These occupants, allegedly armed, subdued them and seized the truck loaded with packages. The complainants also claimed that their cell phones were stolen during the alleged robbery. However, this version began to fall apart when investigators were able to geolocate one of the devices reported stolen. Through technical work, the agents located the cell phone in downtown Encarnación. After setting up surveillance, they arrested David Ariel Benítez Riquelme, who had the phone in his possession. The man stated that he had acquired the device directly from one of the complainants the night before the alleged robbery and showed messages that supported his version of events. With this evidence, the investigators suspected it was a hoax and proceeded to also arrest the driver, Ricardo Javier Ayala Sambuchetti, and his passenger, Alexis Gaspar Maciel Colmán. According to the police chief, during the investigation, both men contradicted themselves multiple times, and finally one of them admitted that they had never been robbed. According to the confession, they voluntarily drove the truck to a location where a van was waiting to transfer the merchandise. Later, the investigators located a large part of the cargo abandoned in a wooded area, about 35 to 40 kilometers from where the robbery supposedly occurred. At the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office, all the merchandise was seized as evidence. The commissioner added a striking detail: the same truck had previously been reported as the victim of two other alleged aggravated robberies in the same area, a fact that will also be analyzed during the investigation. The three detainees were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office and will have to give statements to the Prosecutor's Office, which is continuing its investigation to determine the responsibility of each of those involved and to clarify whether other people are involved.
