MURIÓ AL INTENTAR DEFENDER A SU SUEGRA DE UNA AGRESIÓN EN TOMÁS ROMERO PEREIRA

A 40-year-old man died early Friday morning in the San Isidro neighborhood of the Tomás Romero Pereira district after intervening to defend his partner and his mother-in-law, who were allegedly victims of domestic violence. First Sergeant Francisco Ríos, of the Itapúa Police Directorate, reported that the victim was identified as Daniel Maciel Rodríguez, who arrived at the María Auxiliadora District Hospital without vital signs, suffering from a stab wound to the neck. According to the police report, the incident occurred when Gladys Domínguez, the mother of the victim's partner, went to her daughter's house seeking refuge after allegedly being assaulted by 54-year-old Severiano Villalba González. Minutes later, the alleged assailant reportedly arrived at the house where the woman was. At that moment, Daniel Maciel Rodríguez intervened to protect both his partner and his mother-in-law, and a struggle ensued, during which he received a serious stab wound to the neck. After the attack, the victim was rushed to the District Hospital, where the on-duty physician, Dr. Adel Vega, confirmed that he had arrived without vital signs. After gathering information, officers from the 16th Police Station conducted a search of the area and located and apprehended the alleged perpetrator, who was detained at the station at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office. Assistant Prosecutor Reinaldo Garayo and forensic pathologist Dr. Cándido Vargas participated in the procedure. The forensic examination determined the probable cause of death to be hypovolemic shock caused by a stab wound. The Prosecutor's Office continues its investigation to clarify the circumstances of the homicide.
