The bells of York Minster

Taken from the amazing National 12-bell Striking Contest which was held in York yesterday! This was both my first time actually attending a National 12-bell and hearing the magnificent bells at York Minster. Boy do these bells live up to their expectations, as being in York while these bells are ringing is truly a sight to behold 😍. Each band rang a 252-change touch of Stedman Cinques, and the bands were York, Guildford, Cambridge, Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, St Paul’s Cathedral, ASCY, and SRCY. This is a recording of the SRCY’s test piece, whereby they came 5th out of 9 teams. P.S, I apologise for the view of a construction site as St Michael Le Belfrey is being restored, but this was the best location to really bring out the majestic nature of these bells! 12 bells (plus ex treble & 6b), tenor: 59-1-23 (3020kg) in Bb, cast in 1925 (ex treble 1978) by John Taylor & Co.
