Mitfahrt im Erlebniszug San Gottardo – Mit der Ae 8/14 über die Gotthard-Bergstrecke | Swissrails

On 9 May 2026, the “giant” Ae 8/14 11801 took over the Erlebniszug San Gottardo from Erstfeld to Bodio TI and back. The journey ran over the legendary Gotthard panoramic route with various highlights along the line. In this video you will find impressions from the windows of the historic standard coaches. It is a slightly longer video – sit back and enjoy the views. The Ae 8/14 11801 was built in 1931 by SLM and BBC as a powerful Gotthard locomotive for heavy freight and express train service and is still considered one of the most impressive electric locomotives in Switzerland. With its enormous output of over 5,400 kW and the distinctive Buchli drive, it remained in regular service until 1977 and is today preserved as an operational historic locomotive with SBB Historic in Erstfeld. ◼️ Subtitles / Documentation This video contains written documentation.
