The Mindset That Changed My Racing Forever
"Believe you can, and you're halfway there." This quote from Theodore Roosevelt touched home when I applied it to my racing style. A few years ago, I found myself in dead last in the middle of an 800m race, and the only thing that kept me in the fight was belief. I told myself, "It's never over," and with 200 meters to go, I found a gear I didn't know I had and passed 8 guys in the final 100 meters of the race to finish first in my heat. That's why I think belief is one of the most important aspects of training. However, it's often the one that we neglect the most. I think our training should be built on belief, which takes careful practice every time we step on the track.
