Our journey from Delhi to Gangtok began early in the morning at around 7:00 AM. Our first goal was to reach Lucknow in a single stretch. At around 3:00–3:15 PM, we stopped at a roadside eatery called Janata Dhaba for lunch. We were extremely hungry, and since the lunch rush was almost over, the staff quickly prepared fresh ridge gourd (turai) curry with onions and toor dal (arhar dal) for us. Along with the meal, we had three rotis each, two bottles of water, and a cup of tea. The total bill came to just ₹260. The dal and turai curry were incredibly delicious. We even picked up a useful cooking idea there—how to make flavorful gravy-style vegetable curry at home, as we usually cook dry vegetables. A few days later, on our return journey, we stopped at a famous truck drivers' dhaba near Sitapur, where the dal and aloo matar curry were outstanding. We also tried the famous Magalganj Rasgulla, which we had heard so much about. It definitely lived up to its reputation and tasted amazing.
