Is this the most beautiful part of the UK? - Sailing the Caledonian Canal EP5
This is part 2 of Sailing from Newcastle to Cardiff, where we sail through the CALEDONIAN CANAL. This is a hidden gem in the UK. From the start at Inverness we entered the canal on a wet, damp overcast morning, but as the day wore on the sun showed us why everyone holds this canal up to be one of the best sailing destinations in the world. We were all blown away by the beauty of this part of the UK. Although it was quite cold for May, we were practically the only sailing boat on the canal all the way through. Loch Ness was completely devoid of boats and and we felt like the whole loch was just for us!! The scenery changes every 10 minutes and seems to just get better and better. The total distance was about 62 miles, but it is probably one of the most memorable 62 miles that anyone can do in a boat. The transit fee included mooring anyway along the numerous pontoons along the way that all had water and electricity.
