How to make a banana twine bag (Rwanda)
Our artisan partners have joined together to use their skills and local, natural resources to fulfill their vision of thriving families. We are excited to introduce them to you here! The ladies featured in this video live in a rural community in southern Rwanda where their weaving supplements their main work of farming. The ladies weave at home and then meet together once a week on the grounds of the parish health clinic. The name of the group means "We Develop Ourselves through Baskets". Azizi Life works with over 20 groups of artisans, connecting them with resources for growth and connecting their art with the world- check us out at www.azizilife.com ! Special thanks to singer-songwriter Melody Olson for her song Let Love Win, from her 2010 album All These Things. Thanks also to Jon Newlin for documenting the transformation of a bag from fruit tree to fashion trend! -Christi, Azizi Life, September 2011.
