6 UTV/SxS Crossed the Gila River Multiple Times to Reach the Coke Ovens! What Could Go Wrong?

What do you get when you combine six UTVs, multiple Gila River crossings, rugged Sonoran Desert trails, and the historic Coke Ovens? One unforgettable Arizona off-road adventure! What could go wrong? 🤔 Tim, a fellow UTV/SxS off-road YouTube creator, reached out and invited me to join an adventure he was planning to the historic Coke Ovens. The route would take us in from Hwy 177 with a couple of Gila River crossings thrown in just for fun. Starting from our staging area about 10 miles east of Superior, Arizona, our group headed south into the rugged Sonoran Desert on a 37-mile adventure. The route began with rocky desert trails winding through rolling hills before climbing onto ridgelines that offered sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and desert valleys. From there, we continued deeper into the backcountry toward Walnut Canyon. Along the way, we crossed the Gila River multiple times, adding a little extra excitement and adventure to the ride. The combination of water crossings, rocky terrain, desert washes, and scenic overlooks kept the trail interesting from start to finish. After exploring the Coke Ovens area and taking in the spectacular scenery, we looped back toward the staging area. We did 1 more river crossing just to see if we could make it up a very steep, rutted, & slippery riverbank. What could possibly go wrong? 🤔 Great trails, great friends, historic sites, river crossings, and incredible Sonoran Desert views made this one of those rides we'll be talking about for a long time.
