One Way Bridge Stout n’ Smoke Review – Wearable Nostalgia or Dirty Old Bar?

In this no-hype review, I take a closer look at Stout n’ Smoke from One Way Bridge, an independent fragrance house from New Zealand. Created by Elise Walraven and released in 2020, Stout n’ Smoke immediately caught my attention with its promise of dark beer and smoke - two notes that suggest old bars, craft stout, malted barley, and perhaps a little stale ashtray nostalgia. Is this a beautifully wearable evocation of an old-fashioned pub, or does it drift too far into “bar that needs a steam clean” territory? In this review I discuss the opening, drydown, projection, longevity, wearability, who it might suit, and where I think it works best. This is a fragrance with real character: sourdough bread, toasted malt, traditional ale, stale smoke, dry cedar-like woods and a strong sense of place. It may not be for everyone, but it is certainly memorable.
