TOP SHELF by ONE WAY BRIDGE | NO-HYPE REVIEW

Today I’m reviewing Top Shelf by One Way Bridge, an independent New Zealand perfume from Elise Walraven. This is a rugged, masculine fragrance built around dry leather, cedar-like woods, cigar smoke, animal musk, and a distinct horse-saddle character. It doesn’t open with bright citrus or florals, it gets straight down to business with cracked leather, dust, smoke and barnyard musk, giving the impression of a man who has been riding for days before stepping into a bar and ordering something from the top shelf. So often the marketing brief and the actual smell feel disconnected, but here the concept and the fragrance line up beautifully. I describe it in the video as almost a “Portrait of a Man” - confident, outdoorsy, mature, and quietly alpha without feeling cartoonish. I also talk about wearability, projection, longevity, when I would and wouldn’t wear it, and why this might end up being a bottle purchase for me. A big thank you to Carlyn at Sweet Fern for generously sending through the samples. What do you think of Top Shelf?
