Welcome to the Colony. There is no escape from the Barrier - only the bold survive. In this first episode of our Gothic 1 Remake playthrough, our nameless Hero is cast down beneath the magical Barrier with nothing but a mysterious letter meant for the Fire Mages. Branded a convict and left to rot, he must learn fast: who rules, who lies, and who can be trusted in a prison world where ore is law and the strong take what they want. A stranger named Diego pulls him from the jaws of the wardens and offers the first taste of wisdom about this brutal place - the camps, the factions, and the deadly creatures lurking in the valley. Armed with our first crude weapon, we carve a path through the wilds, claim our earliest kills, and step beneath the gates of the Old Camp for the very first time. Inside, the real game begins. We cross paths with Graham, Grim, and the ever watchful Thorus, who sets us on the road to earning our place with the quest Out Of Sight. We run errands for the camp's own - tracking down ingredients for Snaf's Recipe, lifting a certain prize for Fingers, and tolerating a shadow named Mud who simply will not leave us be. Every favor brings us closer to the Magicians of Fire... and to answers about why we were sent here at all. But the Colony never gives anything freely. What waits beyond these walls?
