Gothic 1 Remake #5: A Body In The Water - Silas' Dark Secret

Some secrets sink to the bottom of the lake... but the Nameless Hero knows how to dive for the truth. In this fifth episode of our Gothic 1 Remake playthrough, we finally close the book on the New Camp's grimmest mystery. The foreman Bran is still missing, and the only way to his fate runs through a flooded passage beneath the lake tavern. We hold our breath, slip through the underwater entrance into Silas' locked back room, and what we find in the dark is no happy ending - a corpse, some tools, and a damning letter from a man named Jacko. Armed with the truth, we confront the innkeeper Silas over the body, then carry the grim news back to the Rice Lord to finish Up To His Neck. Justice in the Colony is rarely clean, and what the Hero chooses to do with what he knows says everything about the man he's becoming. There's more business to settle before we move on. A pack of wolves prowling the lakeshore learns the hard way not to cross our path. We finally lose patience with Lefty and his endless water runs - this time we refuse, and settle the matter with our fists rather than another errand. And with Baal Isidro's swampweed all sold off, we wrap up The Herb Merchant and pocket our reward. With the New Camp's debts paid and its secrets uncovered, the Hero turns his eyes back toward the Old Camp… One chapter of the Colony closes as another opens. What waits back among the ore barons?
