Solo Trip - Cabin Chores!!
Time to head up the cabin again for some well needed chores. First a stop in Roaring Springs PA for the wedding reception for Sheriff Jim and his new bride Amy. I just took a few snapshots there so as not to impose on the other folks there. Good luck in your new life to both of you! The from the hotel in Duncansville PA, took the couple hour ride up to the cabin on Sunday morning. Some good weather was had for a change, started off by swapping out the area rugs we've had in the cabin for a long, long time. A little bit of a different look, but the same cabin feel. I did have a soundbar to install to go along with our new 55" TV that we put in during our Spring Trip. Unfortunately I couldn't reach behind the TV to install and reroute the cables, next time when we are all there! The normal battery game camera swap outs, then on to cooking up some Cornish Game Hens, potatoes, and beans! What a meal, never did them before, and they turned out great. Just the right amount on each bird. Monday brought my first attempt at hanging a deer licking branch down near the Chairman's stand. Took a hike past my stand, and down to the edge of our property. Selected a good spot (from watching other videos), cleared out a section, hung the branch, and put up game camera to watch over it. Did that on the 9th, and on the 11th had a nice 6pt buck check it out, and also some doe just about everyday since. I guess I got it fairly right on how to do it. Maybe just have the stick hang a little lower. Grilled Short Ribs were on the menu for dinner, seared them, then put them on the cold side of the grill for the rest of the cook. Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts filled out the menu. Again another great dinner, then on to the deck for a Espresso martini and a cuban. It just doesn't get better than that. Last day put up a new challenge coin in the Blue Pot Cafe', and couple old licenses over near the deer mounts. More time spent on the deck in the evening, very relaxing way to spend some time. Grab yourself a beverage and a snack for this cabin trip.
