Capabilities: Fire and Rescue Service
How well do you understand the capabilities of your fire and rescue service colleagues? In this episode of our Emergency Services Capabilities series, a police officer visits fire and rescue service teams to gain a deeper understanding of the resources, specialist teams and operational capabilities that support emergency response across the UK. From frontline fire appliances and their firefighting and rescue capabilities, to specialist national assets and teams, this video explores the wide range of resources available to fire and rescue services when responding to incidents and emergencies. Featured capabilities include Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams, High Volume Pumps (HVPs) used to manage large-scale flooding and water movement, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) resources, and specialist capabilities that support responses to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents. The video also provides an insight into the role of specialist search dogs, which support both search and rescue operations and fire investigation activities, as well as Command Support Units that help incident commanders manage complex and dynamic incidents through effective command, control and coordination. The series is designed to improve understanding between emergency services and responder organisations by allowing responders to experience first-hand the capabilities, roles and responsibilities of their partner agencies. By increasing awareness of what each service can provide, we can strengthen interoperability, support more effective joint working, and improve outcomes for the public. Understanding the capabilities of fire and rescue services helps responders build shared situational awareness, make better-informed decisions, and coordinate more effectively during multi-agency incidents. Whether you work in police, fire and rescue, ambulance services, local authorities, the voluntary sector, military, or another responder organisation, this video offers a valuable introduction to the specialist resources and expertise that UK fire and rescue services bring to incidents every day. Watch, share, and help strengthen interoperability across the UK. #JESIP #FireAndRescue #EmergencyServices #Interoperability #JointWorking #MultiAgencyResponse #USAR #UrbanSearchAndRescue #HVP #HighVolumePump #HAZMAT #CBRN #SearchDogs #FireInvestigation #CommandSupportUnit #EmergencyResponse #BlueLight #PublicSafety #ResponderCapabilities
