The atmosphere couldn't be better at Cologne's RheinEnergie Stadium. Then came the alarming news: Following a chemical accident, a cloud of pollutants drifted in, contaminating the spectators. Now the danger had to be dealt with quickly. Around 800 emergency responders practiced such a scenario together during the large-scale exercise resConEx'26. Specifically, they trained in handling chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) hazards. A total of approximately 800 emergency personnel, 400 extras, and 250 observers from around the world participated. A team of 100 people, consisting of representatives from the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), the Federal Police, and the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), organized and led the exercise.
