Capabilities: Police
How well do you understand the capabilities of your police service colleagues? In this episode of our Emergency Services Capabilities series, a firefighter visits policing teams from across the UK to gain a deeper understanding of the people, resources and specialist capabilities that support the police service in protecting the public and responding to incidents and emergencies. From frontline response policing and neighbourhood policing teams to specialist national capabilities, this video explores the breadth of resources available to policing. Featured capabilities include Roads Policing Units, Major Crime Teams, Scenes of Crime Officers, Rural Crime Teams, Licensed Search Officers, Police Dogs, Police Drones, Marine Units, Underwater Search Teams, Hostage and Crisis Negotiators, Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) specialists, and officers trained to respond to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents. The video also provides an insight into the role of the National Police Air Service (NPAS), Armed Response Units, and a range of specialist capabilities that support policing operations every day, from local incidents to major and complex investigations. The series is designed to improve understanding between emergency services and responder organisations by allowing responders to experience first-hand the capabilities, roles and responsibilities of their partner agencies. By increasing awareness of what each service can provide, we can strengthen interoperability, support more effective joint working, and improve outcomes for the public. Understanding the capabilities of policing helps responders build shared situational awareness, make better-informed decisions, and coordinate more effectively during multi-agency incidents and emergencies. Whether you work in police, fire and rescue, ambulance services, local authorities, the voluntary sector, military, or another responder organisation, this video offers a valuable introduction to the diverse capabilities and specialist expertise that policing brings to protecting communities across the UK. Watch, share, and help strengthen interoperability across the UK. #JESIP #Police #EmergencyServices #Interoperability #JointWorking #MultiAgencyResponse #NPAS #PoliceDogs #PoliceDrone #RoadsPolicing #ArmedPolicing #MarineUnit #UnderwaterSearch #DVI #CBRN #NeighbourhoodPolicing #EmergencyResponse #BlueLight #PublicSafety #ResponderCapabilities
