What is Leadership? A Story, and a Suprising Answer | Jim Lemoine | TEDxUniversityatBuffalo

What is the best way to lead, and what is the paradox of leadership? What kind of leadership has a unique effect on motivation, performance, satisfaction, commitment—and the bottom line? Jim shares a different view of leadership that will change the way you look at organizations and team management for the rest of your life. Jim Lemoine is an assistant professor of organization and human resources in the University at Buffalo School of Management, and a researcher and facilitator with the school’s Center for Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness. His research, which focuses on the intersections of organizational leadership and morality, has been published in Harvard Business Review, the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Annals of the Academy of Management. His research and insights also have been covered by major business publications, including Inc., Forbes, Fast Company and Entrepreneur. Jim has earned several awards for his leadership research from the Academy of Management, the International Leadership Association and the Southern Management Association. Beyond his research and teaching, Jim is a trustee of the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership, a regular volunteer at Buffalo’s Friends of Night People, and a frequent player of pinball.
