DAPHNE HUT: All you need to know! Huts of New Zealand

Daphne Hut sits atop a river terrace along the Tukituki river, deep into the Ruahine Ranges. Its a beautiful hike to the hut, with native forest, great views and a cool river section. The hut was built and maintained by the Takapau Lions Club and officially has 12 bunks, but I counted 16 mattresses when I stayed. I was a bit cold and lonely as there was no dry firewood around to get the fire cranking, and no other hikers around. But I could imagine in the summer Daphne Hut would be an excellent place to stay, especially with a good group of people. I definitely plan on staying again!
