Marius Kociejowski: A Factotum in the Book Trade - A Memoir | '22 Lecture Series

Marius Kociejowski and Glenn Woodsworth in conversation about Marius latest effort on the antiquarian book trade. Together with well-known bibliophile and sometime customer, Glenn Woodsworth, Marius Kociejowski will be discussing his life in the antiquarian/ first edition book trade and illustrating it with descriptive passages from the book. Marius Kociejowski's most recent book is a travelogue The Serpent Coiled in Naples (Haus/University of Chicago Press, 2022). Other titles include Collected Poems (Carcanet, 2019), God's Zoo Artists, Exiles, Londoners (Carcanet, 2014) two books of essays and feuilletons The Pebble Chance (Biblioasis, 2014), Zoroaster's Children & other travels (Biblioasis, 2015), two Syrian travelogues The Street Philosopher and the Holy Fool (2004) and The Pigeon Wars of Damascus (Biblioasis, 2010). ABOUT MARIUS KOCIEJOWSKI Marius Kociejowski is a Canadian born poet, essayist and travel writer. Born in 1949 in Mishop’s Mills, Ontario, he left Canada in 1973 and later settled in London. His first publication, Coast, won the Cheltenham Prize for Literature in 1991. (From Wikipedia) ABOUT GLENN WOODSWORTH Glenn Woodsworth, a Director of the Alcuin Society, is a semi-retired geologist and mountaineer. He began collecting books in his teens with the Ace Doubles science fiction paperbacks. Now he collects Malcolm Lowry, mission press imprints, mountaineering, and material on bookseller William Hoffer. With his wife, Joy, their Tricouni Press has published a dozen or so books, all of which have a British Columbia connection.
