Dragon Quest VII Reimagined - Low Level (Tough Going) Part 7: Cardinal Sin

Challenge playlist:    • Dragon Quest VII Reimagined - Low Level Ha...   Fought with the same equipment as the arena battles in the previous video, except the MC took the Magic Shield from Maribel. Cardinal Sin sure is hard work. This significant storyline boss packs enormous amounts of HP, which results in a lengthy battle each time you attempt to fight him. He's got a few physical attacks, but you'd best be wary of his magic, as he tends to act twice per turn and seems to especially favour the crystal ball attack, which is almost certainly magical considering the noticeable buff it receives when the boss enters his 'furious' phase. An assorted array of MT spells can also be used, making Troubadour an excellent pick for Auster's vocation, though I do wonder if blinding the boss would do anything about the crystal ball attack. Jacqueline is a guest in this battle in her Priest vocation, capable of healing the entire party and resurrecting the fallen when she is in overdrive. This is incredibly helpful when somebody has died, though unreliable - it's by no means guaranteed that the resurrected will carry on living for much longer when at low HP. Jacqueline's AI works in weird ways and she may forego healing somebody with Midheal when they most need it, or use it on someone with 40+ HP. Let's not forget Maribel is a Priest as well, and whenever she isn't using our only Shiverstick she can resurrect, too, and use that same turn to heal if necessary (if it is depends on the unreliable turn order). I wasn't sure if I'd make it out alive without a second shiverstick (a third one wouldn't be half bad either, though I like Ruff trying to disable the make and make him lose his turns while his physical attack is buffed up), but as you can see I made it out fine. After the battle, a second version of Lucky Panel opens up, so that's going to be another period of grinding between this video and the following one.
