嫌われてからが本当の人生【ブッダの教え】
Adults ask children, "What is your dream?" and "Do you have a dream?" If a child says, "My dream is ____," adults will squint and say, "You're so determined for someone so young," and the child will begin to prepare some kind of answer. If a child were to say, "I don't have any dreams" or "I don't know yet," they might feel embarrassed, as they might be labeled as "not determined," and they may begin to feel that they need to have a dream. Even in elementary school, there is time for students to announce their dreams for the future. The moral education textbook for upper elementary students, "Kokoro no Note," has a section titled "Steps Towards Dreams," and Ichiro Suzuki appears as the embodiment of dreams. Successful people and famous people often tell young people that they want to have dreams. And they also say that "dreams always come true." When children reach junior high and high school, in addition to "having dreams," they are looked at for "what they are doing now to achieve them," and those who are taking action will begin to be respected by their friends and the opposite sex. Even here, if a child says, "I haven't found my dream yet," they will be disappointed. Before long, young people begin to feel complex about their indecisiveness about their dreams. Furthermore, while many young people are working hard toward their dreams, at some point in their lives they begin to think, "Maybe I can't make it come true," or they realize that they never really wanted to make it come true in the first place. If they were to give up, they might disappoint those around them, thinking, "Was that all you really wanted?" and many of them end up feeling frustrated and troubled. To young people struggling with these kinds of worries, I would say, "There's no need to worry so much about not having a dream." You don't need to worry so much that you decide on a dream, and if you realize that a dream isn't quite what you want, just reset and reconsider. Don't be afraid of not having a dream. In fact, it could be said that people who worry about it this way and that way before they have a dream are the ones who are seriously facing themselves. I say this because, in fact, the person known as the Buddha, or Shakyamuni, spent his childhood and youth with just such worries. Prince Siddhartha (later to become Buddha) was born as the heir to the kingdom, and those around him gave him an elite education, ensuring that he would become a worthy king. Because the prince was particularly talented, expectations were high that he would become a "wheel-turning king," the king of kings, among many other kings. When he was still a child, Prince Siddhartha may have delighted the adults around him by telling them of his dream of becoming a wheel-turning king. However, as he grew older, the prince began to become lost in serious thought. Becoming king, conquering other lands and becoming king of kings, and gaining fame and wealth - what good would that be? He didn't see any of this as a path to happiness, nor did he see it as a path to making those around him happy. He began to ponder how he could achieve unwavering, clear happiness. Before long, the prince began to remain silent when those around him asked him about his dreams and hopes for the future. He was never sure what direction he wanted for his future. Prince Siddhartha decided what he truly wanted and what he should do, and secretly left the castle at the age of 29, betraying the expectations of those around him. It was a courageous decision made after a long and sincere struggle. We are truly grateful that this great decision has given us our current connection to Buddhism. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Click here for the 20-part free email course. ----------------------------------------------------------------- https://peraichi.com/landing_pages/vi... ↑ This free email course reveals the answer to the Buddhist teachings about the "meaning of life."
