BROOKS Ghost 18 | A Physical Therapist's Honest Review | A Thorough Comparison with Clifton 11 and Structure 26 The BROOKS Ghost 18 is a classic daily trainer. To be honest, I've tried on over 50 pairs of running shoes, but what impressed me most about this shoe wasn't its responsiveness. It was its "Stability" and "protection." Recent running shoes have evolved towards increasing propulsion through thicker soles and plates. Of course, that's also excellent technology. However, the Ghost 18 is a little different. Rather than the shoe pushing you forward, it's designed to softly absorb weight and stabilize your landing. That's why I felt that It wasn't a case of "the shoe making you run," but rather, "a daily trainer that protects your legs and allows you to confidently build up distance." That was my impression. Even when actually running in them, the sense of security upon ground contact is very high, and excessive pronation is suppressed. On the other hand, the feeling of rolling forward due to the strong rocker and rebound is minimal, and the ground contact time is slightly longer. I personally felt the strengths of these shoes most strongly during jogs at around 5 minutes 30 seconds to 6 minutes 30 seconds per kilometer. When increasing the pace to around 4 minutes 30 seconds, the agility and propulsion feel somewhat lacking, but the sense of security in protecting the legs during jogs stands out. In this video, we will thoroughly evaluate this shoe using our unique shoe evaluation system **"ShoeEva 10-Item Evaluation"**. • ShoeEva 10-Item Evaluation • Stability Analysis using Rear Throw • Motion Analysis using Lateral Throw • Comparison with Clifton 11 and Structure 26 • Which Runners Are These Shoes Suitable For? • Actual Usage Strategy We will explain all of this in detail from the perspective of a physical therapist. In particular, this will be helpful for: Those aiming for a sub-4 to sub-3.5 marathon time Those who want to protect their legs while running, especially during jogging Those who prioritize stability when choosing shoes Those looking for a daily trainer that prioritizes protection I personally rate this shoe as: "A stable daily trainer that provides soft support" The manufacturer also states that the Ghost 18 was developed as: A daily trainer with cushioning and a smooth ride, suitable for everyday use. Even after actually wearing them, I felt a strong sense of stability and protection upon landing. On the other hand, I sometimes felt the shoes were heavier than the specifications suggested, due to the softness of the midsole and the lack of propulsion. I will now summarize the true running performance that cannot be understood from catalog specifications alone. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ■ note I have published structural analysis and 10 shoe evaluator points that I couldn't fully cover in the video. https://note.com/marathon_pysio ■ X We post the latest shoe information and review updates. https://x.com/marathonpysio?s=11 ■ Threads We post about running and shoe reviews. https://www.threads.com/@marathon.phy... ■ Instagram We post information about running and shoes.   / marathon.physio.gear   ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Marathon Physical Therapist / Shoe Strategist Compared over 50 pairs of running shoes Over 10 years of clinical experience as a physical therapist Review shoes from the perspectives of anatomy, kinesiology, and movement analysis Currently training to achieve a sub-3 marathon time If you've read this far, you should have a good understanding of the characteristics of this shoe. The Ghost 18 is Not a shoe that allows anyone to run at speed effortlessly. However, This shoe is very appealing to runners who want to build up their jogging distance while minimizing strain on their legs. It's also great for runners who prioritize stability. And for runners who want to cover distance with confidence. On the other hand, if you're looking for natural weight transfer and agility, the Clifton 11 is a good choice. If you're looking for firmer stability and responsiveness, the Structure 26 is an option. Please read to the end to learn more about the differences between these three shoes. I will continue to share helpful information about running and shoe selection from the perspective of a physical therapist.
