In this talk, Patricia Guzmán discusses the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and the underrepresentation of women in these professional careers. She explains that stereotypes, motherhood, and other factors still present barriers preventing more women from pursuing STEM-related professions. She proposes innovation and resilience as mechanisms that can contribute to addressing this challenge globally. She is currently the President of the IEEE Mexico Council. A graduate of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, she has served as President of the IEEE Puebla Chapter, Secretary of the IEEE Mexico Council, Regional Coordinator of Professional Activities, and Coordinator of Humanitarian Activities for IEEE Latin America and the Caribbean. Since 2014, she has been a Senior Member of IEEE. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
