Born in the La Legua neighborhood of Santiago, into an environment of extreme poverty and limited opportunities, she nevertheless managed to study nursing, driven by a firm conviction to help and serve others. Frustrations continued, and she decided to seek opportunities outside of Chile, emigrating to Australia, where she studied Health Sciences and earned a doctorate in Health Informatics with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence for patient safety. She was hired by the Australian government to develop the country's first clinical informatics center, and later moved to the World Bank to improve, through informatics, access to healthcare for the world's poorest people. She recently completed a Master's degree in Law in Chile to ensure dignified treatment for people using telemedicine and mobile technologies for their care.
