In this place, in the 1630s, the knight John Gierałtowski built a Renaissance castle. Older literature also repeats the legend that the building stands on the site of the former Templar guardhouse, which, however, has not been confirmed by sources or archaeological research. The castle was built on a rectangular plan and consisted of two three-story residential buildings and a five-story tower. There was a well in the courtyard. The complex never had peripheral walls and was surrounded by a moat filled with water. During the 19th-century reconstruction, carried out by the then owner of the castle, Alexander von Bally, the tower was raised by one storey. A number of other modifications were also made at that time, due to which the castle partially lost its Renaissance character. At the beginning of 1847, Chudów castle burned down. It was never rebuilt and has since fallen into ruin. In 1995, the 'Chudów Castle' Foundation acquired the castle ruins and began financing conservation work. The first archaeological research was conducted at that time, which allowed us to determine the original shape of the complex.
