Zabytkowa Kopalnia Srebra, Tarnowskie Góry

These are the remains of the former "Fryderyk" Royal Mine. Some sources indicate that silver, lead, and zinc were mined here as early as 1714. The Triassic dolomites and limestones were rich in silver-bearing ores. Silver from Tarnowskie Góry was used to produce coins in distant China, and zinc met half the global demand for this raw material in the 19th century. ** ABOUT THE PROJECT ** The "Book of Small Museums" presents over 100 proposals for Polish small museums and cultural institutions.
