How Large is Your Fly-Fishing Tippet...REALLY?

When you are comparing one brand's 5x tippet to another brand's 5x tippet, how do you know you are making a fair comparison? If one tests stronger, is it because the material is actually better? Or is one material actually larger than the other? I've tested a lot of tippet materials over the last few years. Through those comparisons, I've noticed that some materials were visually larger than others despite having the same labeled size. I decided I needed some empirical data on tippet diameters so that I could choose tippet based on better information I purchased a digital measuring microscope and measured each fluorocarbon tippet we sell in our shop at tacticalflyfisher.com.
