Does tippet size REALLY affect your nymphing drift?
There are a lot of folks out there who have ideas about tippet size and how it relates to fly fishing success. One thing I have observed over the last 20 years of fly fishing competitions is that successful competitors generally fish very fine tippet. One of the main reasons for this is that the amount of drag force from the water flowing past your tippet is directly related to the diameter of your tippet. In this video, I talk about the drag force equation for cylinders in water and why thinner tippet helps you achieve better drifts. Thanks for watching.
